Educational Goal

The Mile High Vocal Jam was born out of the desire of it’s founder, Andrew Hoag of Colorado Audio, and former member of the DU Idiosingcrasies, to propel the art of a cappella singing forward in Colorado.  Hoag teamed up with Take 6 sound engineer, Tony Huerta – Owner of Sonic Audio

Each year the MHVJ pulls from the vast pool of international clinicians and premier vocalists from the United States to come to Denver to teach and inspire our youth.  There are private performance critiques by these professionals in a positive environment, classes on everything to do with singing and group dynamics, music business, vocal drumming lessons, music law, and so much more.

Each participating group and student gets “real” life lessons in the music industry, opening up doors of opportunity with knowledge.  Participants are now in music careers, on national television shows, own music production businesses in Colorado and across the country.  Recently, a group of Colorado singers that had attended the Mile High Vocal Jam formed Urban Method and were finalists on the NBC show’s 3rd season of The Sing Off!  Just proof that this educational outreach program is motivating young students to grasp their dreams and pursue music as a career.
