With high school, college, and professional a cappella experience, Andrew Hoag brings valuable knowledge to this year’s Mile High Vocal Jam.   During his time singing with the “DU Idiosingcrasies”, Andrew realized that there was very little aid being given to the high school and college level singers in the Rocky Mountain region.  Supported by a team of volunteers and industry professionals, Andrew created the concept for the Colorado A Cappella Vocal Conference (now the Mile High Vocal Jam) from his DU dorm room in 2007.  The 2010 Vocal Jam is now in it’s 4th year and with your help, the festival will continue gathering momentum and educating young singers across the United States.

The buzz generated by the prospect of a thriving local singing community helped Andrew to secure a Contemporary A Cappella Society of America (CASA) grant award presented by Jonathon Minkoff.  With the help of Jonathon Minkoff and a few corporate investors, Andrew decided to focus his energy on the event production side of the music industry.  Andrew is now the Owner and President of the Colorado Audio Group, a special event production company providing sound systems, lighting design, staging, and entertainment in Colorado.  Ranging from audio visual support to full concert sound systems, the Colorado Audio Group has worked with hundreds of clients including the 2010 Denver Rock & Roll Marathon and the Colorado Rapids Major League Soccer Team. The Colorado Audio Group is a proud sponsor of the Mile High Vocal Jam and will be providing all sound & lighting support for the Saturday clinics and competition.

Although Andrew has branched out to do much more than a cappella, his roots will always remain in vocal music and he continues to provide discounted and pro bono production services to the college a cappella groups in Colorado.

In addition to his local ambitions, Andrew has recently returned from a 4 week tour as the production manager and front of house sound engineer for the rock band, “The Foot.”, represented by the Sweetwine Entertainment Group.  Working closely with venue owners and booking agents across the United States, Andrew has now mixed concerts for a variety of bands and events including his recent tour to Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Virginia, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

On behalf of the committee and the participating groups, Andrew wishes to thank you for your continued support of local a cappella music in Colorado. Please stay tuned in 2011 for the a cappella performance series coming to a venue near you!
